The Joys of Being a Homebody

As a self-proclaimed homebody, I spend most of my time at home. Along with day-to-day business management, friends and family gatherings, and time to let my hair down, I have gained personal fulfillment with a low-key lifestyle, and the bonus of no dress code... so yes, all while wearing my comfiest loungewear from the comfort of my living space. Honestly, there's no better feeling than knowing you don't have to leave your sanctuary to have a good time.

But don't get me wrong..... my family and I love going on nature walks, spur-of-the-moment weekend adventures, and visiting family and friends... but for us, we love the peace and comfort in our surroundings. Nothing beats a cozy night in with some good Netflix, trying new dinner recipes, and taking the time to recharge + reset.

Time to Reconnect with One's Homebody Self

As a homebody, the flexibility of choosing how our time is spent leads to a more balanced lifestyle and less stress overall. If it's working from home, taking breaks when needed, and having the bonus of avoiding rush hour traffic. Additionally, homebodies can often pursue hobbies or interests that require more time and attention, such as gardening, crafting, or cooking elaborate meals.

So, whether it's a chilled Saturday morning indulging in your creative side by setting up an art studio filled with your favourite paints, brushes, and canvases, honing your artistic skills, whether painting, drawing, or even starting up a new craft project.

Or indulge in a DIY spa day with scented candles and some favourite skincare products mixed with self-guided meditation to relax and unwind as you pamper yourself from head to toe.

Or that lazy Sunday afternoon - setting up the perfect outdoor oasis with a relaxing picnic in your backyard with some delicious snacks and stimulating conversations, all while enjoying all the benefits of a change of scenery in your home.

When you live a homebody lifestyle, you get to enjoy many benefits. It's about focusing on your interests, creating a comfortable space with the kids and furry ones running around, and gaining a sense of stability and contentment.

When it comes to the household, it's all about creating a space to call home.

Create a Peaceful Space and Evolve With Your Home

When your home is bright, organized, and filled with things that bring you joy, it can lift your mood and improve your overall well-being. On the other hand, when your home is cluttered, dark, and uninspiring, it can contribute to stress and anxiety to your mental health, and you may feel overwhelmed. It's easy to get stuck in a rut and keep the same old furnishings for years on end - but with so many amazing unique home decor ideas out there, why not try something new? There's something so satisfying about finding the perfect throw pillow or lighting fixtures to complete a room. You can find inspiration everywhere, from social media to your favourite TV shows to home decor sources.

Pinterest is my go-to source for home decor inspiration. I frequently browse Pinterest for the perfect pieces to add to my collection. I love scrolling through beautiful photos of other people's homes and getting ideas to incorporate new trends into my decor. I also love browsing home decor stores and seeing how they style their products. You never know where you'll find your next great idea!

Be Inspired to Create

On the inspiration topic, one of the best ways to elevate your home decor is by getting creative with DIY projects. Not only is this a way to save money, but it's also a way to make your home unique to your taste. You don't have to be a master crafter to tackle a DIY project. So roll up your sleeves and get started, as there are plenty of easy and fun projects that you can do!

Adding Personal Touches

Transforming your home decor by adding personal touches. Your home should be a reflection of who you are, and adding items that are meaningful to you can make your space feel more special.

It could be anything from family photos to souvenirs from your travels to artwork created by your kids.

One of my personal touches in my home is our custom-made coffee table and a dining table made by my brother. They add a unique look to my decor. I also hung up a large round frame and painted birds sitting on a wooden perch to create a fun and eclectic look. It's these little touches that can make an impact on how you feel about your home.

Another easy DIY project is painting old furniture to give it new life. A fresh coat of paint can completely transform an old piece of furniture and make it feel brand new.

So to all the homebodies out there, keep doing you. Spend your weekends redecorating your bedroom or binge-watching your favourite show. Because in the end, even though you've been away from home for a while, nothing compares to being surrounded by the people you love and the things you love - there is quite no place like home.
